What is Transparency obligations (AI Act)?
Also called: Article 50 AI Act
Transparency obligations require that people can tell when they are talking to an AI or seeing AI-generated content.
Example
A customer service chatbot says at the start that it is an AI; a deepfake video is labelled as AI-generated.
For pros
Art. 50 has applied since 2 August 2026: providers must make AI interaction recognisable and mark synthetic content in a machine-readable way; deployers must disclose deepfakes and certain AI texts on matters of public interest. For systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026, the marking duty applies from 2 December 2026 (Art. 111). For evidently artistic or satirical works a discreet notice is enough; AI texts under human editorial responsibility are exempt.
