At a glance
- Trigger
- On the first working day of each quarter.
- Goal
- A list of all reports with usage, owner and one proposal each: keep, merge, simplify or retire.
- Check
- Every proposal cites usage data or a concrete overlap. No report is proposed for retirement because of a single quiet month.
- Stop condition
- Every report in the overview has a proposal.
- Approval
- Yes. Reports are changed or switched off only after the owner approves.
- Memory
- Decisions from earlier quarters and reports kept on purpose.

- Read the list of reports from [report overview] with views, recipients and owners.
- Mark reports nobody has opened for a long time, reports without an owner and reports that define the same metric differently.

Read the list of reports from [report overview] with views, recipients and owners. 2. Mark reports nobody has opened for a long time, reports without an owner and reports that define the same metric differently. 3. Reports are changed or switched off only after the owner approves. ## Memory Decisions from earlier quarters and reports kept on purpose. ## Result - Report list with proposals - Questions to report owners ## Rules - Stick to the stop condition. If the goal is not reached after the set number of rounds, stop and report what is missing. - Never send, delete, pay or publish anything without my approval. Building blocks
A loop uses skills, agents and prompts. Add the matching skills so every round follows the same instructions.

Where the loop runs
Chat assistant with a schedule
ChatGPT offers scheduled tasks, Gemini offers schedules. Simple scheduled loops run there without other tools. Availability depends on plan and region.
No-code automation
In n8n, Make or Zapier you build trigger, AI step, check and approval as a workflow. n8n has its own evaluations for this.
n8n · Make · Zapier Agents
Coding agents
Claude Code has commands for interval loops, goal-based loops and scheduled routines. Codex has goals with a budget, Cursor has Automations on a schedule or event.
Vendors change features and plans often. The vendor's help page is what counts.
Keep an eye on costs
Every round uses compute. Subscriptions often have usage limits; with API access you pay per request. Limit the number of rounds and calculate beforehand.
Common mistakes
- No stop condition: the loop keeps running and uses compute without ever finishing.
- No real check: the assistant reports success although nobody looked.
- Too much freedom: the loop sends or changes something you wanted to see first.
