Conformity assessment is the check of whether a high-risk AI system meets all AI Act requirements before it goes on the market.
Example
A maker of AI software for job applications documents risks, data quality and oversight and issues an EU declaration of conformity.
For pros
Depending on the system, the assessment is done internally by the provider or with a notified body (Art. 43); then follow the declaration of conformity, CE marking and registration. After the 2026 amendment, these duties apply from 2 December 2027 (Annex III) or 2 August 2028 (Annex I).
