Features
This desktop app is made by Menlo Research. You download an open model and chat with it directly on your computer. You can also connect online models such as ChatGPT or Claude, and the app offers a local API server.
Per the privacy page, the app runs offline by default; conversation history and usage logs are stored locally. If you connect an online API (for example OpenAI), your data goes to that provider. The app is free.
- For Windows, macOS and Linux; open source under Apache 2.0 (per the licence file)
- Per the privacy page, chat history and usage logs stay on the device
- Memory per the vendor (macOS): 8 GB RAM for 3B, 16 GB for 7B, 32 GB for 13B models

How we compare
We compare free access, paid entry, plan limits, features and the listed official sources. Unsourced figures stay marked as not published.
Only confirmed entries appear in the catalog. Prices, plans and limits come from listed official vendor pages. Missing figures stay marked as not published. Search results are ordered by Task match by default; category and task lists are alphabetical. Both can be switched to Free access first; neither is a quality ranking. The vendor page always wins.
