A model card is a fact sheet for an AI model: what it is for, how it was tested and where its limits are.
Example
Before using an open-weight model, you read in its model card which languages it handles well and which licence applies.
For pros
The concept comes from a 2018 research paper. Typical content covers training data, evaluations, known risks and terms of use. Large providers publish more detailed “system cards”. For general-purpose models the EU AI Act requires technical documentation.
