A provider offering a large language model in the EU must keep technical documentation and publish a summary of its training data.

Obligations for providers of GPAI models have applied since 2 August 2025 (Art. 53): documentation, information for downstream providers, a copyright policy and a training data summary. The European Commission has published guidelines and a code of practice. If you only use a finished model, you are usually not its provider.
