What is AI Overviews?
Also called: AI Overview, AI Mode
AI Overviews are AI-written summaries that Google shows above the regular search results, with links to the pages the answer is based on.
Example
You search for “descale a kettle” and see a short guide at the very top with links to several help pages.
For pros
Google only shows AI Overviews when, in Google's view, they add something beyond the classic results. AI Mode is a separate view for longer and comparative questions. Both can run several sub-searches via query fan-out. Only a page that is indexed and eligible to show a snippet can appear as a source; according to Google there are no further requirements. nosnippet, max-snippet or noindex limit what Google shows from a page. AI answers can contain mistakes, so check important facts in the source.
