AI literacy is the knowledge needed to use AI sensibly and safely: what it can do, where it makes mistakes and what to watch out for.
Example
A team learns to check AI answers and not to paste customer data into unknown tools.
For pros
Article 4 of the EU AI Act obliges providers and deployers of AI systems to take measures that support the AI literacy of their staff. Since the amendment by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, the law states explicitly that no specific level of literacy has to be assured. The duty has applied since 2 February 2025.
